Re: How to make your new Mac bootable from an external drive

In other news related to changes on the Mac, DiskWarrior is still not able to rebuild a drive formatted as AFPS.
The next major release of DiskWarrior will include the ability to rebuild APFS disks.

Jay, Do you really need a wired keyboard for this? I thought Apple solved that problem.

Re: Photos App

Here's another option: External Editors For Photos.app. $0.99 in the Mac App Store This is a Photos extension and shows up in the Edit mode under the Extensions (...) button. I think this allows roundtrip editing in Photoshop while retaining the .psd format. (I haven't tested with RW2 files though.)...

Re: Photos App

BTW, I tested a file as follows: File > Export > Export Unmodified Original I opened it in Photoshop, dismisssed the somewhat confusing Adobe RAW editor, added a text layer and saved as psd. I dragged that file back to Photos. File > Export > Export Unmodified Original, opened it in Photoshop and it...

Re: Photos App

I have four file formats I can test: RW2 (Panasonic raw) jpg (variety of cameras) tiff (scans) psd (edited or created in Photoshop) Using Image > Edit With > Adobe Photoshop, they all open as jpg. As a test, I edited an RW2 20 MP image, 23.6 MB. I used Image > Edit With > Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop ...

Re: Photos App

That's weird that your workflow would change formats like that.

Re: Photos App

Hmm.
I'm using Image > Edit With > Adobe Photoshop. What I see in Photoshop is then a .jpg file

If I use File > Export > Export Unmodified Original, I have to save the file somewhere, then open that in Photoshop.

How are you exporting?

Re: Photos App

Here's one issue I've found with Photos, as compared to Aperture: In Aperture, if I opened an image in my external editor of choice, Photoshop, Aperture would create a duplicate image in .psd format, and save that. So I could edit in Photoshop, save the edits and then open the image again in Photosh...

Product Prediction

I just realized an application that could take Apple's rumored wireless charging pad from a slight convenience to a real convenience. So far Apple's and all the other wireless charging pads can, for example, charge an iPhone and an Apple Watch at the same time. Soon, Apple will release a wireless-ch...

Re: Photos App

I've done a lot of Shadows adjustments and White Balance, but haven't really delved into the finer grained adjustments with Levels and Curves. Photos now has a lot of adjustments that Aperture had, much more than when Photos was first introduced. I noticed recently a healing brush in Photos that wor...
