There are other SMUG people who know a lot more about Numbers than I do. That said, I think Numbers can just open .csv directly. It may not be pretty, but it should work. Can you do that on your Mac, then move the Numbers file to your iPad? iCloud would work for that transfer if the file isn't huge....

I think the whole metaphor of an internal SSD only is intended to be used with large Thunderbolt-connected external storage. But then you have to be very careful to backup the externals. And I would be leery of using a one-enclosure RAID that duplicates files. If the enclosure dies, you're stuck, at...

Which app were you using for photo editing? I suppose that task will always use lots of RAM.
