Re: Safari v10.0

Boy, for me, the new Safari is a screamer! Really fast. Playing everything quickly, snappily, and with no problems! I tried NY Times Videos and a bunch of other video sources. Could not get it to hiccup. This is running under Sierra on my MacBookPro. Count me pleased (for now....)

Thanks as always, Stephen. Do you have a favorite among the various cache cleaners?

"Other" files in OS X

Hey guys, down here in Bend.... A club member (down here) has a MacBook Pro with a 250 Gb SSD running El Cap. The "About this Mac" storage tab says that she has around 100 Gb of "Other" category files and that her hard drive is almost completely filled. I've poked around on the web and most advice s...

Re: Degrees vs ring above Also, where am I?

Stephen... please put in the link you mentioned for the discussion of the ring diacritic! The only uses I know of for the ring-above (is that its proper name?) is when used with a letter. Re: Degrees vs ring above Also, where am I?

I had never known anything about the compass app. With respect to the degree symbol, you might have also added the fact that in iOS on iPhones and iPads you get the degree symbol by (unintuitively) holding down the zero key ...

Re: Time Capsule HELP

So Darren.... was that of help? The folks up in Port Angeles are always eager to hear back if things work out...

Note for the SMUG crowd, Darren is president of COMUG, the Central Oregon Mac User's Group.... and he's a pretty savvy dude!

News from Bend....

Dear SMUG, Well, I've been away for a few months and thought I would report on the state of Mac help in Bend. We've been enjoying living here in this high desert community of over 100,000 people. But in all of this vast development, there is only a single Mac store. It's an independent store not an ...

Re: Can't Partition New Portable HD

Agree.... I just got my first of the OWC plastic case 1 Tb Mercury Elite's and it's sweet. I didn't compare prices very much, having been a steady OWC customer for so many years. But this thing is strongly made, very compact, and fast.
