Re: Customizing Login Screen

I haven't done that on my iPhone nor iPad but I will. That's a great idea, Ray.

Re: Customizing Login Screen

My guess is that if a thief starts up the Mac and sees that it has to have a password to get in, the Mac will end up in a trash bin somewhere. But maybe an honest person will find it and call me. Or maybe I'll do something stupid and leave it in a hotel room when I'm traveling and the person who fin...

Re: Customizing Login Screen

Never mind! I was using SEARCH in System Preferences and couldn't find it. When I used SEARCH in the MacOS title bar I found the answer.

Customizing Login Screen

I have customized my login screen so there's a message at the bottom when my Mac is booted, either a cold boot or a reboot. The message states my name and phone number and asks anyone seeing the login screen to please contact me because the Mac has either been stolen or lost. Fortunately that has ne...

It would make even more sense if "Purchased" was in the sidebar !! There is lots of room.

Agreed. That's where I looked for it and when I didn't find it there I was perplexed. Sometimes I wish I had direct access to the Apple software designers so I could ask, "Why did you do it that way?"

Found My Previous Purchases In App Store

Before upgrading to Mojave if I wanted to download an app I'd already purchased I just opened the App Store and one of the headings you could click was labelled as previous purchases. That might not be the exact label name but it was obvious that's what it was. After clicking the label all my previo...

Re: MacBook Air Conceens

Why are you shutting it down "using the power key"? That's a sure fire formula for corrupting all kinds of files, including your OS. Click the little black Apple icon in the top left corner, select Shut Down... and then let your Mac go through its normal shut down routine. Did you mean to title this...

Re: New iPhone & Cell service??

From my house I can see the lights on the Verizon tower on Mt. Pleasant. Even with line-of-sight the tower is so far away the best I can get is two bars on my iPhone. But it connects and that's all that matters.

Re: New iPhone & Cell service??

The big problem with companies like Consumer Cellular is that they don't own their own infrastructure (e.g., cell towers). They "piggyback" on the companies that do have their own infrastructure by buying access. What that means is Consumer Cellular (and all the other independents) are really provid...

Re: How to see amount of space available on HD?

In the upper left-hand corner of your display click the little black apple icon. Then select ABOUT THIS MAC, then select STORAGE. You'll see a graphic display of all your storage devices with your internal HD on the top. It'll tell you how much space you have and how much is still available.
